Dim Sum Birthday Wishes

Today the Chan's treated me to a belated birthday lunch of Dim Sum! The summer was so busy and we never seemed to get the time to do it. A Happy Birthday shout out to Nicole whose actual birthday was today!

The Best View

Today Steve, Nicole, Gen and I headed out to Gatineau Park to do some hiking. Though it was overcast, the colours were amazing and beautiful, and my picture doesn't do them justice at all. Overwhelming exhaustion now....

Purple Colour Splash

Today was Gaby's funeral. Gaby is the mom of Julia, the tutor that R had all last year. She had been suffering for years from cancer, and passed away very early Sunday morning. One of her wishes was that everyone wear bright colours to celebrate her life and when I walked in the door right after, a purple binder with a holographic print was splashing purple all over my wall and made me think of her.

Sushi Rose?

I thought the sushi looked like a rose. Steve thought it looked like something else. Now he has learnt that I will take advantage of any situation to get a good blog pic for the day ;-) Thanks Steve! You are the bestest!

10 Kilometer Marathon

Not your typical marathon, but today Steve, Nicole and I walked 10 kilometers. Knee is SSOOOOOO sore. Got a present that I will be sending in the mail too!

First Day Blues

It is officially the start of a new school year. Why does the first day of school feel more like New Years than December 31st to me? If you look closely, you can see how very hard R is trying not to cry. Got to the school 45 minutes early to sort out her class and officially got her moved to English. D is having no problems at all, hardly able to stand still he wants to go see his friends so badly.

R is in Mr Shorts class!!!! I couldn't be happier. As you can tell from this picture, R is not exactly echoing that statement. She only knows two girls in her class and is desperately missing her friends.

D and his two best friends (Kyle is on tipy toes - he isn't really that tall!). Loving his new hair cut, such a cool dude my little man. Not so little anymore really. In a cruel twist of fate, D is also in the same class as all of Rs French friends.

Family in the Sun

My weekly walk with Steve and Nicole got moved from Friday to Thursday evening due to an out of town engagement on Steves part. Rather than take our normal route, Steve got us to walk along the Ottawa River and we stopped at the beach with the inuksuk's just as the sun was setting. It was beautiful and I wish I had have been able to enjoy it more and not in so much pain. I was such a downer! Sorry Nicole and Steve!

Always feel a little guilty when Ken drives me home after visiting with the Chan's. Thank goodness gas is such a good deal this week in Orleans!

Avengers Assemble!

The kids and I were joined at the theater by Nicole and Nathaniel to watch the Avengers: Age of Ultron. This time is was me who had to pee!!!

Experimental Love

Went to the experimental farm with Nicole and Isabelle today and had tons of fun. Clair the cow LOVED D, and R made a beaver puppet during lunch. Lots of fun!

Tired bus on the way home.

Today was a long day for me and the kids. We met Erin and walked to the locks where we watched the boats go back and forth and even went through the museum. Walked to Menchies (bet you can't guess which frozen yogurt is mine?!) and then let the kids run wild in the park until Erin had to work, which we followed her to! A fun evening of boardgames until it was time to head to the light show on Parliament Hill. The kids were barely sitting in the bus  heading home before they were out cold.

Last D&D session before the girls head to join their dad in B.C. So sad to see them go! Also got to do some Skyping with Lydia today which was fun!

MY BESTIE IS IN TOWN!!!!! Michele came into Ottawa yesterday and we immediately went out for sushi! So much fun catching up, so much to talk about! And delicious delicious avocados!
