Everyone was pretty wiped from our weekend at Gran's trailer. The roads were really free of traffic thank goodness cause we were running almost an hour behind schedule. Can't wait to head back up again!
A creative essay of my life, adventures and thoughts through photography and written prose.

Day at the Beach
I was feeling vaguely ill this morning after not sleeping well so I decided to just watch the children from the beach instead of swimming in the water with them which afforded me a rare oppertunity to take some great shots with my camera. Rowan had a blast being the Sand Monster and Dorian was having fun with his friends playing with water guns.

Giant Cat
So my Onyx does a lot of sleeping now a days and this is his favorite place to nap when the window is open. Sometimes when I take pictures of him, it really hits me how large of a cat he really is. I cant get over the size of his paws in this pic! My poor, sleepy old man.

Field Trip Fun
Second last day of school! I haven't volunteered as much as I would have liked this year so I am glad I went today. It was a really great day for a field trip too!

Bath Fresh
Rowan is trying to find which pajamas she wants to wear to tomorrows end of the year party! Eventually she listened that these footies might be a touch too warm to wear in the middle of winter...

Geese of a Feather
The Canada Geese were just grazing on some grass right by the side of a busy pathway. No one bothered them though, because if you look closely, you can see the look on Mommy and Daddy goose face it clearly says "touch my babies and we will mess you up."

Old School Movie Star
Yesterday was the Strawberry Social for the Cup of Africa and I, Nicole and her daughter went all out in fancy dress and big floppy hats. The strawberry shortcake was delicious and the coffee was wonderful and petting the horses was a real treat. All proceeds went to help an orphanage in Africa which also made my day. Both Nicole and I snorted when we were addressed as "real ladies".

Rib Fest!
Richard took me to Rib Fest which was completely AWESOME! I also got to try beef ribs for the first time which was great and I had, perhaps, the best pulled pork sandwich I have EVER had. Highlight of the night? Getting to see Richards sword! No really, his sword, no euphemisms here. I got to catch a glimpse into what it takes to make a He-Man sword!

SURPRISE!!!!
I spent a lovely day with Nicole and got her hooked on Orphan Black! It was a nice relaxing day which was awesome. I also got PRESSIES! I got an absolutely gorgeous mirrored box (that description doesn't do it justice!) that I am totally going to use to put my River Song supplies in! Everyone who really knows me, knows how exciting that is to me ;-) I also got some spectacular coffee and a swoon worthy poster from Doctor Who! THEN I also got taken to Monopolatte for games after dinner. When we showed up, we were ushered into the back and that was when I noticed Erin. I was like "whaaaaa?" Why is Erin here?! Turns out I had a surprise birthday party!!!!!!!!! My first EVER! Nicole made an awesomely delicious chocolate cake, and once I could actually process natural thought, it was awesome! I was beyond surprised, I was SHOCKED! It was SO awesome! I have the best friends EVER!!!!

Where's The Love?
It is obvious that no body loves this dog. I mean, he has gone a whole three minutes without a belly rub. Someone should really call the SPCA.

Animal Prints
Eddie loves Grans trailer. Although he looks terribly sad in this picture, he is actually ecstatically happy getting attention and belly rubs. It is Eddie's special power: the ability to evoke guilt that you haven't pet him in the last five seconds. Also, I think the box is mad at me for leaving for a day. It is now screaming even louder to get opened. Also, after carefully inspection, I can attest that the box definitely has a lid under the brown paper wrap. A lid!

A River View
Was a perfect day to go to my Mom's trailer. It was slightly chilly and overcast. I got most of the lot raked up, most of the furniture situated, the fridge washed out from the exploded cans of coke and the fire pit dug. Looking forward to a relaxing time later here this summer.

My First and Second Favorite Things!
Cold meds! YAY COLD MEDS! I <3 cold meds. Know what else I <3? SWIRLS! But these swirls are mean swirls. They stare at me and whisper "open the box Aimee. Michele won't mind just a few days early..."

Empty Nesters
The baby birds have finally flown the coop! Time to get out the scrub brush and clean the play structure so I can sell it :-) Also balloons. Mocking balloons.

Parcel in the Mail!
I got a parcel in the mail! This pic totally doesn't do it justice but it had both mine and Michele's address on it so I had to find some way of posting that didn't include that :-( I am going to have to find a way to unwrap the paper and not ruin it.... when I open it A WEEK FROM NOW! That is right everyone! My bestie sent me a parcel for my birthday and I have to sit and look at it for a WHOLE WEEK. Maybe this will help me find some more self control? ;-)

The Nose Knows
It was too much to ask to spend two days surrounded by sick people and not get sick :-( I HATE summer colds! They always feel worse than the winter ones.

Ear Piece
Compare my finger nail to the size of the thing at the bottom of the bowl. That is what came out of Dorian's ear. I was doing a routine ear wax clean on Monday when I noticed something white in his ear canal. I attempted to pull it out via tweezers but it caused Dorian pain so we turned off dinner, hopped on a bus and headed to the walkin clinic. After a two and a half hour wait (Kerri dropped off dinner for the kids! Thank you Kerri!!!), we got to see the doctor who attempted to use a curette with no success and then tweezers which caused Dorian to scream and cry in pain. The doctor gave us a referal to CHEO and I took him out of school today and off we went. Thankfully we had Erin who so graciously offered to drive us (thank you Erin!!!). After an almost four hour wait we got to see a doctor who took a look, asked the nurse for a syringe to flush the ear. A few squirts later, waxy buildup started to pour out (that is all the 'floaters' in the bowl) and then, eventually, it loosened the 'thing'. Even after two nurses, a doctor and I looked, we have no idea what it is. An eraser? A piece of foam? A cigarette butt? It is crumbly in texture and bright white and I have no clue! The dark brown around it is the waxy buildup that was stuck behind the thing.Tiring few days and I am suffering from a bad mood!

Lilacs
Busy, busy, busy! Another busy day! Headed to church today which was interesting. Then Steve stopped by (Pathfinders was canceled BOO!) and we hung around discussing possible characters until Matt dropped by too and we headed to Montanas. A quick trip to the grocery store and then the kids were home again! YAY!

Open Doors
Today was a busy busy day! I was up at 7am, off to Erin's for 9am. Had some coffee and hung around until Edwin arrived and then it was off to Open Doors Ottawa! We toured Transportation Ottawa which was really fascinating and then we toured the Ottawa Curling Club which was also really fun! Lunch at Erin and Jeff's where I got to cuddle Pippin and watch some Tabletop and then I headed back to Orleans to watch Maleficent with Steve, Lydia and Katie. It was the second time I watched it and it was just as awesome a second time! Back downtown for some late night McDonalds and an... interesting discussion and then back home for some much needed rest!

Not So Baby Birds
It is amazing how quickly the babies have grown! Mama bird no longer even fits in the nest and has to perch on the side. I think, very soon, there will not be enough room for three. Was it natural selection that the smallest was pushed from the nest? Did I interfere with the chain of nature? Did I, in retrospect, actually do the right thing saving the baby bird?

Moisturize Me!
Moisturize me! Moisturize me! How I wish right now I had two able bodied men to follow me around and puts the lotion on its skin. Totally mixing around with film quotes ;-) I do, however, envy Cassandra, the last pure human, for her wonderful caretakers right now.

Park Fun
Sometimes I wish that I had a car. Yesterday was one of those times. Dorian had a birthday party (and can I say how thrilled I was that he got invited?! He has been having so much trouble fitting in with the boys at school that I totally cancelled our weekend away plans just so he could make the party!) and we had to walk an hour to get to the house. Then Rowan and I bummed around Place D'Orleans (it was only five minutes away at that point) and had smoothies and chatted about clothes and school and fun stuff. After we got tired of that, we headed to a nearby park to play until the party was over. We played stella-ella-ohla and Miss Mary and I-spy, swung on the monkey bars together and played on the swings. When it was time, we picked up Dorian from the party and made our hour long trek back home. My feet were so sore but it was a great day just me and my girl.

Fluff!
They are growing so big! The one that I rescued is the one in the middle. He is noticeably smaller than the other two, maybe why he was pushed out of the nest?
